It is with much joy and blessings that I come to St. Anthony. I have been serving at St. Anthony of Padua in Forest Grove for the past few months, and before, that I was in McMinneville. I was born in 1967 in Saigon, South Vietnam and came to the United States in 1975. Raised on the east coast and in California, I became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1986. I graduated from the California Polytechnic University in Pomona with a Bachelor’s in Finance, and then I joined the Congregation of Holy Cross. I studied at the Moreau Seminary on the campus of the Notre Dame University before going to Mount Angel Seminary. I was ordained in 1999 by Archbishop John Vlazny, at St. Mary Cathedral for the Archdiocese of Portland. In addition to McMinnville, I have served at Sacred Heart Parish in Tillamook, St. Mary in Eugene, St. Joseph in Salem, and St. Pius X in Portland. It is with much joy and gratefulness that I come to you. I come not alone but with my faithful friend, Sophia. Sophia a nine year old gentle-loving boxer. Sophie passed away in 2018 due to cancer. In November, 2018, I adopted Allie, a standard Poodle. Bailey, another adopted poodle, joined the family in October 8, 2019. You will probably see us walking through the streets of Waldport. If you want to walk with us or visit with Allie and Bailey sometime, please let me know. I look forward to the many blessings, wonderful examples that you will give me, and the many amazing things we can do together. Holiness comes in all ages, ethnicity, and health conditions. If you or someone you know is sick, please let me know so that I can anoint you or them. Please keep me in your prayers as I keep you in my prayers. If there is anything I can do for you, whether it be counseling or sacrament of reconciliation, please let me know. I will love to get to know you. In knowing you, I see my loving God in you. In Christ,
Fr. Joseph Hoang
